Flames re-sign Wotherspoon

The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to a one-year, two-way contract.

Wotherspoon, a second-round choice (57th overall) by Calgary in the 2011 NHL Draft, completed his fourth pro season in 2016-17, scoring a career-high six goals and adding 12 assists for 18 points in 56 AHL games with the Stockton Heat. Wotherspoon also posted a plus-30 rating, tied for second in the AHL.

A native of Burnaby, B.C., Wotherspoon has skated in 218 career AHL games with Stockton, Adirondack and Abbotsford, totaling 11 goals and 50 assists for 61 points. He also has five assists in 30 regular-season NHL games with the Flames, and he skated in six Stanley Cup Playoff contests for Calgary in 2015.
