Former AHL goalie Marsters dies in car accident

Nathan Marsters, a member of the Portland Pirates team that came within one win of the Calder Cup Finals in 2006, died Monday in a motor vehicle accident near Smithville, Ont., the Hamilton Spectator has reported.

Marsters was 29.

A 2000 draft choice of the Los Angeles Kings, Marsters played 37 AHL games for Portland in 2005-06, posting a 23-9-2 record. He made four appearances that postseason as the Pirates advanced to the Eastern Conference finals, and played five more games with Portland in 2006-07.
