Forwards Keefe, Ferguson sign with Rampage

The San Antonio Rampage announced today that they have signed forwards Adam Keefe and Simon Ferguson each to a one year American Hockey League contract.

Keefe, 5’10” 200 pounds, played 34 games last season with the San Antonio Rampage. He began the 2007-08 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins and was acquired in a January trade. In 34 games with the Rampage, he scored one goal and had 121 penalty minutes. In all, he played in an AHL career high 66 games in 2007-08 and had two goals. His 245 PIMs ranked seventh in the AHL.

The Brampton, Ontario, native also played in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose. During the 2006-07 season his 24 major penalties ranked second in the AHL. In 135 career AHL games he has seven goals, seven assists and 591 penalty minutes.

Keefe, 24, played five years of major junior hockey splitting time with Sudbury and Kitchener. He helped Kitchener capture the 2002-03 Memorial Cup championship. In 294 junior games he had 47 goals, 72 assists, and 975 PIMs.

Ferguson, 6’0” 200 pounds, played last season with the Portland Pirates in the AHL. He totaled six goals and 18 points in 60 games. Ferguson spent three seasons in Portland helping the Pirates to reach the Eastern Conference Finals twice, including last season. He also spent time in the AHL with Edmonton in 2004-05.

The 25-year old Ferguson has played 265 professional games, registering 36 goals, 74 assists, 110 points and 620 PIMs, including 68 points (26-42-68) and 372 PIMs in 213 career AHL contests.

The Edmonton, Alberta native played five years of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League. He helped the Kelowna Rockets win the WHL title in 2003 and then the Memorial Cup championship in 2004. In 319 junior games, he had 61 goals, 100 assists, 161 points and 915 PIMs.
