Griffins’ offense takes flight again

The Grand Rapids Griffins are one win away from the Western Conference Finals after a 6-3 victory over Chicago on Monday night.

The Griffins sit with a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Central Division Finals with Game 5 scheduled for Saturday night back at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill.

Mitch Callahan scored three times, including a big goal with 1.1 seconds left in the middle frame to give the Griffins a 4-2 lead heading into the third.

Martin Frk scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and Kyle Criscuolo and Matt Lorito each tallied a goal and an assist for the Griffins. Eric Tangradi notched three more assists, giving him six in the first four games of the series.

Kenny Agostino scored a pair of goals in the second period for the Wolves to erase a 2-0 deficit, and Tage Thompson added his second goal of the postseason.

Jared Coreau (6-1) made 24 saves to pick up his sixth win in seven playoff starts. Ville Husso (4-5) stopped 32 of 37 shots for the Wolves, who have given up 17 goals in four games to the Griffins.
