Griffins re-sign Ford to two-year deal

The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday re-signed right wing Matthew Ford to a two-year contract.

Ford, 33, captained the Griffins in 2017-18 and totaled 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points in 72 regular-season games. He added two goals and three assists in five Calder Cup Playoff games.

In 603 games over 10 AHL seasons with Grand Rapids, Bakersfield, Oklahoma City, Adirondack, Springfield, Hershey, Lake Erie and Hartford, Ford has totaled 185 goals and 194 assists for 379 points. He also has 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points in 45 postseason games, helping Grand Rapids to a Calder Cup championship in 2017.

A native of West Hills, Calif., Ford was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004 and played four seasons at the University of Wisconsin.
