Griffins ride into postseason

The Grand Rapids Griffins clinched a 2016 Calder Cup Playoff berth on Sunday evening with a 5-2 win over the Rochester Americans.

In their first season under head coach Todd Nelson, the Griffins lost nine of their first 11 games this season (2-8-0-1) but are 41-17-1-0 since, including winning streaks of 15 games and 13 games.

Grand Rapids is heading to the postseason for the fourth year in a row; the team won the Calder Cup in 2013 and reached the Western Conference finals in 2015.
