The San Diego Gulls announced that the club has signed right wing Spencer Abbott to a one-year contract through the 2017-18 AHL season.
Abbott, 29, skated in 67 AHL games with San Diego and Rockford last season, collecting 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 points. He tallied 14 points in 16 regular-season games with the Gulls after being acquired by the Anaheim Ducks on Mar. 1, and tallied one goal and five assists in eight postseason games as well.
Abbott also played one game with the Chicago Blackhawks last season, his second career NHL contest.
A native of Hamilton, Ont., Abbott has played 256 career AHL games and has notched 67 goals and 130 assists for 197 points with San Diego, Rockford and Toronto.
