Hall of Fame inductions set for Jan. 19

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today the details of the 2010 AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony, presented by Portland Press Herald, to be held as part of the festivities surrounding the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic next month in Portland, Maine.

The ceremony will be held at noon (ET) on Tuesday, January 19, at Merrill Auditorium in downtown Portland. The American Hockey League Hall of Fame Class of 2010 – Macgregor Kilpatrick, John Paddock, Marcel Paille and Bill Sweeney – will officially be enshrined and honorary captains Byron Dafoe and Ken Daneyko will be recognized for their careers in both the AHL and NHL.

Brian Burke, a Calder Cup champion as a forward with the 1977-78 Maine Mariners and now the president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, will be the keynote speaker at the event, which will also pay tribute to this year’s AHL All-Stars. Former Portland Pirates broadcaster Tom Caron, now of the New England Sports Network (NESN), will serve as master of ceremonies.

Originally built in 1912 and located in the Arts District of downtown Portland, Merrill Auditorium is one of New England’s finest performing arts centers and also serves as a local and statewide cultural hub for a diverse variety of programs for the region.

The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic will feature the 2010 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Monday, January 18 (8:00 p.m. ET) and the 2010 AHL All-Star Game on Tuesday, January 19 (6:00 p.m. ET), and will be televised live nationally in the United States and Canada.
