Heat, Barons to play in Calgary

The Calgary Flames announced today that the Abbotsford Heat, the American Hockey League development affiliate of the Flames, will host a regular-season game versus the Oklahoma City Barons, the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, February 18, 2011.

The game will launch the Heritage Classic weekend festivities and will provide Flames fans the opportunity to see the Flames of the future as they face off against the Edmonton Oilers top prospects.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs this season and the beginning of the newest rivalry in the Battle of Alberta tradition.

“To play a regular season game in an NHL arena, especially the Scotiabank Saddledome in front of Flames fans, will give our players a sense of the atmosphere they can expect when they make the advancement to the NHL,” said Heat head coach Jim Playfair. “Playing the affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers for the first time will also introduce our players to one of the greatest rivalries in professional sports.”

Tickets for the Heat-Barons game at the Scotiabank Saddledome start at just $15 and are available at all Ticketmaster locations. For tickets call 403.777.0000 or visit ticketmaster.ca.
