Heat sign veteran defenseman Johnson

The Stockton Heat announced Friday that they have signed veteran defenseman Aaron Johnson to an AHL contract.

Johnson, 32, is entering his 13th season of pro hockey in 2015-16. He served as captain of the Binghamton Senators last season, and tallied six goals and 29 assists for 35 points in 73 games.

Over 401 career AHL contests, Johnson has recorded 36 goals and 149 assists for 185 points. The native of Port Hawkesbury, N.S., was an AHL All-Star in 2004.

Johnson has also appeared in 291 games in the NHL, registering 17 goals and 45 assists for 62 points.
