Hershey travels to Cleveland tonight

The Hershey Bears take on the Cleveland Barons in a inter-conference contest tonight at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Although this is a battle of unfamiliar foes — the Bears and Barons have not played each other since Jan. 18, 2004 — there is a very familiar AHL history between the two cities.

The Hershey Bears met the original Cleveland Barons, an original member of the AHL from 1936-73, a total of 410 times in the regular season and playoffs, including matchups in the Calder Cup Finals in 1941, 1945 and 1954, all won by the Barons.

This year’s Bears (5-3-0-2) are making their fourth stop on a five-game road trip, coming off a 4-2 win in Hamilton on Sunday afternoon. Hershey dropped decisions in Wilkes-Barre on Friday and Toronto on Saturday.

The Barons (2-6-0-0) have struggled of late, and are looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Cleveland will be looking to get a boost from Steve Bernier, Mike Iggulden and Josh Hennessy, their trifecta of rookies who have led the way in scoring so far this season.

Game time from the “Q” is 7:05 PM (ET). Be sure to catch all the action as B2 Networks delivers live video webcasts on your computer, as part of their league wide coverage of the American Hockey League.
