Hudler lifts Griffins to OT win

Jiri Hudler finished off a hat trick with the game-winning goal 28 seconds into overtime as Grand Rapids posted a 4-3 win in San Antonio on Sunday evening.

Hudler scored a pair of power-play goals in 71 seconds spanning the first and second periods, and Matt Ellis added a shorthanded goal as the Griffins took a 3-1 lead into the third.

But Juraj Kolnik picked up his second goal of the night with 15:59 remaining, then assisted on Greg Campbell‘s tying goal with 7:48 left.

Joey MacDonald made 21 saves as the Griffins improved to 4-0-0-0 on the season.

Hartford also stayed perfect at 4-0-0-0, posting a 3-1 win over Springfield on home ice… Zach Parise scored the winning goal with 4:17 left in regulation as Albany struck four times in the final 5:21 to defeat Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 5-2, and stay in first place in the East Division… Tomas Plekanec scored in overtime to lift Hamilton over Edmonton, 3-2… Sean Bergenheim posted three assists for Bridgeport in a 3-2 win over Binghamton… Jeff Hoggan got the game-winner for Worcester in a 2-1 decision over Providence… Ilya Bryzgalov made 38 saves, then stopped four of five attempts in the shootout as Cincinnati edged Rochester, 2-1… Kyle Wanvig picked up Houston’s third power-play goal of the game with 3:07 gone in overtime as the Aeros defeated Chicago, 4-3.
