Hurricanes recall Aucoin, Bayda from Albany

The Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday announced that forwards Keith Aucoin and Ryan Bayda have been recalled on an emergency basis from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Left wing Andrew Ladd has been placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury in Carolina’s 4-3 win at Atlanta on Friday.

Aucoin, 27, ranks tied for first among Albany skaters with two goals and one assist (three points) in the team’s first three games this season. The Waltham, Mass., native made his NHL debut in 2005-06, earning one assist in seven games with the Hurricanes.

Aucoin ranked 10th in the AHL last season with 85 points in 72 games with Lowell, Carolina’s former AHL affiliate.

Bayda, 25, has played in just one of Albany’s three games and has not recorded a point this season. The Saskatoon, Sask., native re-signed with the Hurricanes after playing the 2005-06 season with Manitoba of the AHL.

Last season, after returning from a knee injury, Bayda scored 13 goals and added 25 assists (38 points) in 59 games with Manitoba. In 69 career NHL games, all with Carolina, Bayda has scored seven goals and earned 13 assists (20 points).
