IceHogs add Boynton after NHL trade

The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired defenseman Nick Boynton from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for future considerations and have assigned him to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

The Boston Bruins’ first-round choice, 21st overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Boynton has registered 33 goals and 102 assists in 547 career NHL games with Boston (1999-2006), Phoenix (2006-08), Florida (2008-09) and Anaheim (2009-10) over a 10-year career. He notched six points (1g, 5a) in 18 Stanley Cup Playoff contests over three postseason appearances with the Bruins.

The Nobleton, Ont., native was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team following the 2001-02 campaign, and represented Boston as an Eastern Conference All-Star during the 2003-04 season.
