Islanders recall Reese

The New York Islanders announced Thursday that defenseman Dylan Reese has been recalled from loan on emergency basis from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

The emergency recall comes after defenseman Andrew MacDonald suffered a right leg injury against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Reese, 27, leads all Sound Tigers defensemen with 12 points in 21 games and ranks second on the squad with 10 assists. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native appeared in 27 games with the Islanders last season, recording six assists and 15 penalty minutes.

Reese made his National Hockey League debut with the Islanders in 2010 during his third professional season, netting four points (two goals, two assists) in 19 contests. The Islanders acquired the 6-foot-1, 205-pound blueliner in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 1, 2010.

Reese played collegiately for four years at Harvard University and was originally a seventh round (209th overall) selection of the New York Rangers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
