Josh Holmstrom returns to Bridgeport

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that forward Josh Holmstrom has agreed to terms on a one-year, American Hockey League contract for the 2016-17 season.

Holmstrom, 26, returns to the Sound Tigers organization where he played last season and made his professional debut in 2014. The third -year pro notched 30 points (17 goals, 13 assists) in 61 games with the Missouri Mavericks (ECHL) last year and added one assist in seven games with Bridgeport.

The younger brother of Ben Holmstrom, who served as Sound Tigers’ captain last season, Josh spent the 2014-15 campaign with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL), recording 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) and a plus-7 rating in 63 regular-season games. He debuted with the Sound Tigers on April 5, 2014 and made seven appearances following a four-year career at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell.
