Kreider recalled; Haley to Whale

The New York Rangers on Wednesday recalled forward Chris Kreider from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League, while forward Micheal Haley was assigned to Connecticut.

Kreider, 21, has registered a point in six of eight games since his assignment to Connecticut on Feb. 28, tallying six goals and one assist over the span. His six goals in the month of March lead the team, while his seven points rank third on Connecticut over the span. Kreider has registered 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points, along with 65 penalty minutes, in 42 games with the Whale this season. He is tied for sixth on the team in goals, and ranks third on Connecticut with five power play goals.

Kreider returns to the Rangers, where he has registered one goal and one assist in 11 games this season. He made his NHL regular-season debut in the season opener on Jan. 19 at Boston.

The Boxford, Mass., native was originally selected by the Rangers as a first-round choice, 19th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Haley, 26, has skated in nine games with the Rangers this season, having made his Blueshirts debut on Mar. 5 against Philadelphia. He returns to Connecticut where he has registered nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points, along with 158 penalty minutes and a plus-five rating, in 56 games this season.

The Guelph, Ont., native was signed by the Rangers as a free agent on July 1, 2012.
