The Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday announced they have claimed 2004 AHL All-Star forward Chris Kunitz off waivers from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
Kunitz, 26, appeared in 54 games with Cincinnati of the AHL last season, recording 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Regina, Sask., played in the AHL All-Star Classic as a rookie in 2004, during a season in which he appeared in 59 games and registered 44 points (19g, 25a).
Kunitz played in 21 NHL games with Anaheim during the 2003-04 season, registering six assists. He played four seasons at Ferris State University and signed with the Mighty Ducks as a free agent on April 1, 2003.
