LaCosta nabs shutout to lead Crunch over Amerks

Syracuse goaltender Dan LaCosta posted a 29-save shutout to lead Syracuse to a 4-0 road win over Rochester on Thursday at the Blue Cross Arena.

Derek MacKenzie, Ryan Garlock, John Vigilante, and Steve Kelly all netted goals for the Crunch, who are 6-2-0-0 in their last eight games.

After a scoreless first period, MacKenzie broke the deadlock with a power play goal 1:27 into the second. Garlock made it a 2-0 game at the 7:19 mark.

Vigilante extended the lead to 3-0 with a goal 10:30 into the third frame, and Kelly closed the scoring 2:39 later. Kevin Harvey contributed two assists for the Crunch.

AHL All-Star goaltender Mike Brodeur made 29 saves in a losing effort for the Americans, who were blanked for the third time this season.

Syracuse is now 4-2-0-0 in the season series against Rochester and has outscored the Amerks by a 20-5 count in its four victories.
