Lamp(man)-lighter gives Hartford OT win

Bryce Lampman scored 5:16 into overtime on Thursday night to give Hartford a 3-2 victory over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in Game 2 of the AHL’s Eastern Conference final.

The series is now tied at one game apiece, with the next three contests scheduled for the Hartford Civic Center this Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.

Lampman, who scored four goals in 68 regular-season games for the Wolf Pack, netted his first of the playoffs on a blast from just inside the blue line, beating Andy Chiodo and ending the Penguins’ five-game home winning streak.

Layne Ulmer and Jozef Balej also scored for Hartford, while Jason LaBarbera made 24 saves.

Ryan Whitney and Shane Endicott scored in the third period for Wilkes-Barre, which rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits.
