Lander’s record night paces Barons

(okcbarons.com) — Anton Lander set a club record with six points, including a hat trick, in the Oklahoma City Barons’ 7-3 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Saturday at BMO Harris Bank Center.

Lander’s six points were also an AHL 2012-13 season high.

Oklahoma City, 32-23-2-8, wraps up a four-game road stretch with a 3-0-0-1 record and is riding a club-record seven-game points streak away from home (6-0-0-1). Rockford falls to 34-30-2-1.

The Barons broke the game open with a five-goal second period and at one point tallied seven consecutive goals after falling behind 2-0 in the first.

The IceHogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from the edge of the crease. Brandon Svendsen opened the scoring at 8:02 with a backhander set up by Rostislav Olesz. Brad Mills made it 2-0 when a point shot caromed to the deep slot and he had a tap-in past Yann Danis at 11:50.

The Barons cut the deficit in half at 16:37 when Brandon Davidson‘s point shot deflected to Lander at the side of the net.

Teemu Hartikainen tied the game 2-2 at 2:48 of the second on a nifty move in deep, putting it past IceHogs starter Carter Hutton (23-22-1). Lander added a wrap-around to make it 3-2 at 12:27. Jonathan Cheechoo was credited with a goal on a shot by Philippe Cornet at 14:13 that resulted in Hutton being lifted in favor of Henrik Karlsson, who surrendered the final three goals.

Hartikainen added another on a deflection in front at 15:41, followed by Taylor Fedun‘s fourth goal in 10 games with nine seconds left in the second period to make it 6-2 on the man advantage.

Lander completed the hat trick on the power play at 9:55 of the third on a cross-ice pass from Martin Marincin.

Shawn Lalonde completed the scoring at 16:29 of the third for Rockford. Yann Danis stopped 24 shots in improving to 19-14-5.

Oklahoma City went 2-for-5 on the power play while killing off both Rockford power plays. The Barons are 19-for-19 on the penalty kill in the past six games.
