Larose latest Wolves player to claim award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Chicago Wolves center Cory Larose has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 17, 2006.

In three games last week, Larose tallied five goals and six assists for 11 points to go with a plus-6 rating.

Larose began the week by scoring a personal-best five points, including his first career hat trick, in the Wolves’ 7-3 win at Iowa on Tuesday. He equaled his effort on Friday by recording another five points, including two more goals, as Chicago downed Omaha by a score of 9-1. Larose capped the week by registering an assist and taking a game-high six shots in a 3-2 shootout loss to Milwaukee on Saturday.

In recognition of his achievement, Larose will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolves home game.

A native of Campbellton, N.B., Larose has notched seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 13 games for Chicago this season. In 322 career AHL games with Chicago, Hartford and Houston, he has recorded 105 goals and 165 assists for 270 points, reaching the Calder Cup Finals with the Wolves in 2005. Larose was a member of the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2001-02 after a four-year career at the University of Maine.
