Leafs end Amerks’ win streak

Kyle Wellwood scored on both of his shootout attempts to propel St. John’s to a 4-3 win over Rochester at Mile One Stadium on Wednesday night.

The setback ended the Amerks’ eight-game winning streak.

Wellwood, who is heading to his second straight AHL All-Star Classic this weekend, also recorded a goal and an assist in regulation. Ian White and Brett Englehardt scored as well.

Derek Roy had three assists for Rochester, which is still 27-3-1-4 in its last 35 games.
