Lightning re-sign AHL captain

The Tampa Bay Lightning, parent club of the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals, have re-signed right wing Norm Milley to a one-year contract.

Milley, a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Toronto, served as team captain for the Springfield Falcons last season. The 27-year-old finished second on the team in goals (26), assists (34) and points (60) in 73 games in 2006-07, and tied for the club lead with 10 power-play goals.

Milley originally signed as a free agent with Tampa Bay on Aug. 18, 2005. He has appeared in 14 games for the Lightning, registering two goals and an assist.

In 493 career AHL games for Rochester and Springfield, Milley has totaled 131 goals and 180 assists for 311 points and 301 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 34 Calder Cup Playoff contests, notching 10 goals and 11 assists.

Originally drafted by Buffalo in the second round (47th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Milley spent five seasons in the Sabres’ system between Buffalo and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans. He appeared in 15 games with Buffalo and had three assists.
