Lightning re-sign Crunch captain Angelidis

The Tampa Bay Lightning, parent club of the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, have re-signed forward Mike Angelidis to a one-year, two-way contract.

Angelidis, 30, played 64 games for the Crunch in 2014-15, serving as the team’s captain for the third straight season. He ranked third on the team in goals (20) and points (38) while leading the club with 138 penalty minutes.

A native of Woodbridge, Ont., Angelidis also skated in three games with the Lightning last season, and has appeared in 10 career NHL contests, recording one goal and 17 PIM.

In 579 career AHL games with Syracuse, the Norfolk Admirals and the Albany River Rats, Angelidis has collected 119 goals and 126 assists for 245 points, as well as 1,217 penalty minutes. He has added five goals and 16 assists for 21 points in 61 career postseason games, winning a Calder Cup championship with Norfolk in 2012 and returning to the Finals with Syracuse in 2013.
