The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled defenseman Vladimir Mihalik from the Admirals on an emergency basis, Lightning Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Lawton announced today.
Mihalik, 6-foot-7, 222 pounds, has appeared in 29 games with Norfolk this season scoring two goals and six assists with 28 penalty minutes. The native of Presov, Slovakia, made his professional debut last season, recording one goal and 16 points in 68 games with the Admirals. In 97 career AHL games with Norfolk, Mihalik has three goals and 24 points.
Mihalik started the season with the Lightning and played in both games at the Bridgestone NHL Premiere in Prague, Czech Republic. He averaged 12:05 in ice time per game in his NHL regular season debut. He also recorded six blocked shots and five hits. Mihalik also played in four preseason games with Tampa Bay and scored one goal.
Mihalik was drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Admirals will head to Worcester for a Friday tilt against the Sharks on Friday night at 7:05.
The Admirals return to Scope to kick off a nine-game homestand with solid home games from January 7-30. The homestand begins for Norfolk against their East Division Rivals, the Hershey Bears, on January 7 at 7:15 p.m.
