Lightning sign defenseman Gaunce

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Cameron Gaunce to a one-year, two-way contract.

Gaunce, 28, skated in 67 games with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters last season, recording three goals and 21 assists for 24 points.

The ninth-year pro from Sudbury, Ont., has skated in 535 regular-season games in the AHL with Cleveland/Lake Erie, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Portland and Texas, totaling 24 goals and 147 assists for 171 points. Gaunce has also picked up five assists in 39 postseason games, winning a Calder Cup title with Texas in 2014.

Gaunce was a second-round draft pick by the Colorado Avalanche in 2008, and has collected two goals and three assists in 32 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, Dallas and Colorado.
