Lightning sign Gibson, Borgman

The Tampa Bay Lightning have goaltender Christopher Gibson and defenseman Andreas Borgman to one-year, two-way contracts.

Gibson has spent the last five seasons in the New York Islanders organization. He appeared in 25 games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2019-20, posting a record of 10-8-5 with a 2.78 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and two shutouts.

In 208 career AHL games with Bridgeport and Toronto, Gibson has a record of 105-67-22 with a 2.60 GAA, a .911 save percentage and 11 shutouts. He was an AHL All-Star in 2018.

Originally selected by Los Angeles in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft, Gibson has played 14 games in the NHL, all with the Islanders, going 3-4-3 with a 3.45 GAA and a .904 save percentage.

Borgman played 53 games with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage in 2019-20, collecting two goals and 14 assists for 16 points.

Borgman has skated in 123 AHL games with San Antonio and Toronto, totaling 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points. He was a member of the Marlies’ Calder Cup championship team in 2018.

Borgman made his NHL debut in 2017-18, tallying three goals and eight assists in 48 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
