Maltais nets 600th career goal

It took a little longer than planned, but Chicago Wolves forward Steve Maltais scored the 600th goal of his professional career in Wednesday night’s 6-3 loss to Hamilton at Allstate Arena.

Maltais, who scored No. 599 on Dec. 26, has been a member of the Wolves for each of the franchise’s 11 seasons. He has scored 449 goals in a Chicago uniform, and 208 in his American Hockey League career.

The milestone accomplishment was not enough to lift the Wolves to victory, as Gavin Morgan scored three goals and assisted on another to lead Hamilton. Morgan entered the game with two goals in 38 contests on the year.

Steve Ott added a goal and two assists, and Jonathan Ferland and Jason Ward recorded two assists each.

Dan Ellis began the second period in relief of Yann Danis and went on to stop all 10 shots he faced to earn the win.
