Marlies acquire Rosehill from Norfolk, Rome from Worcester

tor05_200.jpgJeff Jackson, general manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has acquired Jay Rosehill from the Norfolk Admirals in exchange for future considerations.

Rosehill, 23, has appeared in 57 games this season with the Admirals collecting 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and a plus-five rating. The Olds, Alta., native ranks third in the AHL with 221 penalty minutes. Rosehill is a versatile player, starting games this season as both a forward and defenseman for Norfolk.

Rosehill was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round, 227th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Marlies have also acquired Ashton Rome on reassignment from the San Jose Sharks.

Rome, 23, appeared in 52 games this season with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL. He collected 25 goals and 19 assists for 44 points with Phoenix this season and 118 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 202-pound native of Nesbitt, Man., ranks first on the Roadrunners in goals and second in points.

Rome played in three AHL games this season with the Worcester Sharks collecting zero points and two penalty minutes. He spent the previous two seasons with Worcester, collecting 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in 125 games.
