Marlies finish off Amerks

The Toronto Marlies advanced to the second round of the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs with a 3-0 win over the Rochester Americans on Monday night.

With a three-game sweep of the Amerks, second-seeded Toronto becomes the first team from the Western Conference to draw into round two.

, Jerry D’Amigo and Nazem Kadri scored as the Marlies struck once in each period. D’Amigo finished with five goals, one assist and a plus-6 rating in the series.

Ben Scrivens
earned the shutout with 29 saves.

Attendance at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester was 7,118.

As the AHL will re-seed heading into the conference semifinals, Toronto now waits for the other series to finish to determine their opponent. The Marlies will meet either Chicago, Abbotsford, Milwaukee or Houston in the next round.
