SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that San Antonio Rampage goaltender Spencer Martin has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 12, 2017.

Martin stopped 73 of the 74 shots he faced over two starts last week, backstopping the Rampage to back-to-back road wins (2-0-0, 0.50, .986).

On Friday night in Rockford, Martin turned aside all 39 IceHogs shots for his first shutout of the season and earned first-star honors in San Antonio’s 6-0 victory. Then on Saturday night, Martin made 34 saves to help the Rampage to a 2-1 triumph in Chicago, giving San Antonio the second-best record in the entire Western Conference at week’s end.

Martin, a third-round selection by Colorado in the 2013 NHL Draft, has a record of 6-1-1 in eight appearances for San Antonio this season, ranking fourth in the AHL in both goals-against average (1.93) and save percentage (.934). Martin, 22, is in his third professional season and has compiled a 32-34-6 record, a 2.74 GAA and a .911 save percentage with six shutouts in 76 career AHL games, all with San Antonio. The native of Oakville, Ont., made his NHL debut with the Avalanche last season, appearing in three games.

In recognition of his achievement, Martin will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Rampage home game.
