Minnesota signs Hicketts, Lizotte

The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Joe Hicketts to a two-year, two-way contract and defenseman Jon Lizotte to a one-year, two-way contract.

Hicketts has spent the last five seasons in the Detroit Red Wings organization, skating in 286 AHL games with the Grand Rapids Griffins and tallying 16 goals and 102 assists for 118 points.

In 2020-21, Hicketts notched 17 assists and 18 points in 32 games for Grand Rapids.

A member of the Griffins’ Calder Cup championship team in 2017, Hicketts has collected five assists in 22 career NHL games with Detroit.

Lizotte notched three goals and six assists for nine points in 32 games with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2020-21, his second pro season.

In 94 career games with the AHL Penguins, Lizotte has four goals and 24 assists. The North Dakota native played four seasons at St. Cloud State University.
