Monarchs wrap up Kilpatrick Trophy

The Manchester Monarchs captured the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the American Hockey League’s regular-season points champions on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 win at Bridgeport.

The Monarchs (48-16-6-3, 105 points) will finish with the best record in the AHL for the first time in their 14-year history, and will have home-ice advantage for as long as they advance in the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs.

With three games remaining, Manchester is five points shy of the franchise record for points in a season (110), established in 2004-05 and matched in 2006-07. Both of those were 80-game seasons. The Monarchs finished with 105 points last season, one point back of the league-leading Texas Stars.
