Monsters’ Bubolz heading to Las Vegas

(AP) — The Las Vegas NHL team has hired former Cleveland Monsters and Cleveland Cavaliers executive Kerry Bubolz as team president.

The team announced Bubolz’s hiring in news release Monday.

Bubolz spent 13 seasons with the Quicken Loans Arena organization, serving as president of business operations. He also served as president and alternate governor for all teams owned by the Cavaliers Operating Company, including the 2016 Calder Cup champion Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, Canton Charge of the NBADL and the Arena Football League’s Cleveland Gladiators.

Bubolz previously served as vice president of sales for the Carolina Hurricanes and in senior management roles with the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the IHL.

The Las Vegas franchise, which has yet to be named, will begin play in the 2017-18 season.
