More OT heroics allow Pirates to pull even

PORTLAND 3, PROVIDENCE 2 (OT)
Simon Ferguson netted his first goal of the playoffs at 6:30 of overtime to give Portland a 3-2 victory over visiting Providence on Sunday in Game 4 of the Atlantic Division finals.

The Pirates secured their second overtime win in three days and knotted the best-of-7 series at two games apiece. The pivotal Game 5 is set for Tuesday in Portland.

Bobby Ryan and Darryl Bootland scored just 52 seconds apart in the first period to stake Portland to a 2-0 advantage.

But Bruins rookie Zach Hamill netted an unassisted power-play marker with 48 seconds to go in the opening stanza, and T.J. Trevelyan tallied the equalizer for the B’s at 14:17 of the second period. Petteri Nokelainen garnered the lone assist on Trevelyan’s goal.

The game remained tied at 2-2 until Ferguson’s extra session tally, which was assisted by Ryan Dingle and Brendan Mikkelson, who scored the overtime winner in Game 3 on Friday.

Pirates goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin made 33 saves in net to secure his sixth consecutive win, all by one goal. Portland is 6-1 this postseason when Aubin is between the pipes and 0-2 when he isn’t.
