NASCAR star gets behind the wheel for Wolves

NASCAR driver Jeff Green will run Turtle Soup Racing driver Stevie Campbell’s stock car, which is sponsored by the Chicago Wolves, in the 9th Annual George Appleton Memorial Echo Power Blower 100 on Friday, July 13 at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill.

"I am excited to be able to team up with Stevie Campbell and the Chicago Wolves for this event," said Green "I don’t get the chance very often to get back to my roots and enjoy short track racing and this seemed like a perfect opportunity for me. I am happy to be a part of it."

The 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Late Model bears the Wolves logo and the number 94, which signifies the team’s inception in 1994. The car is regularly raced by Campbell, a former professional hockey linesman who officiated Wolves contests in both the American Hockey League and International Hockey League.

The Wolves began sponsorship of Campbell’s car last summer. Green will join Johnny Sauter and Rich Bickle as one of three Nextel Cup drivers making special appearances in the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour’s NASCAR Star Summer Shoot Out event, held in conjunction with Nextel Cup weekend at Joliet.

"We are excited to bring the fans this special event and provide the opportunity for them to meet a few of NASCAR’s shining stars," said Series Vice President Steve Einhaus. "The Chicagoland area has produced some of the toughest competition in short track history. We will be rolling into town with most of the greatest short track racers in the country to take on the locals at Grundy County Speedway."
