Newbury recalled by Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that forward Kris Newbury has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

He traveled with the Toronto Maple Leafs this afternoon to Carolina.

Newbury, 24, has played in 10 games for the Maple Leafs this season. He scored two goals and added two assists while posting a plus-4 mark. Newbury has also skated in 37 games for the Marlies, collecting 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists), along with 87 penalty minutes.

He was one of two Marlies to participate in the AHL Skills Competition on Sunday and was originally selected to play in tonight’s 2007 AHL All-Star Game at Toronto’s Ricoh Coliseum.
