SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … With the start of its 74th season just days away, the American Hockey League today unveiled a redesigned official league Web site at theahl.com.
The AHL has also expanded its relationship with NewSport Media, the company whose LeagueStat program has served as the official real-time scoring and statistics service of the league since 2005. NewSport Media will now host and maintain all of the AHL’s web properties including theahl.com, which receives more than 40 million page views annually. A new-look version of the AHL’s official on-line store (ahlstore.com) has also gone live, and the American Hockey League Hall of Fame (ahlhalloffame.com) will be re-launched later this fall.
The AHL’s redesigned site has a sharper look and user-friendly navigation, while still offering the same great content that fans have come to expect. The user interface has been customized for quicker access to news, scores and statistics, as well as to live game broadcasts, highlights and Video On Demand features from AHL Live. In addition, site links have been restructured to make them easier to share through social networks like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
Based in Toronto, NewSport Media specializes in creating Web-based solutions for sports leagues, associations and teams large and small.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 84 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the eighth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2008-09. The AHL’s 74th regular season begins this Friday night as 29 teams begin competition for the prestigious Calder Cup.
