LOOKING AHEAD:
Bridgeport takes its season-high five-game winning streak into upstate New York on Friday to take on Syracuse in the teams’ first meeting since Jan. 29, 2006… The Sound Tigers enter the weekend tied with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the East Division’s final playoff spot, with the Crunch sitting seven points back of that duo… Trevor Smith is riding a six-game scoring streak (2-6-8) for Bridgeport, and Tyler Haskins has notched three goals in his last two contests… Jeremy Reich, one of six former Crunch players on Bridgeport’s roster (joining Mark Flood, Greg Mauldin, Brett Motherwell, Mike Radja and Mark Wotton), has 5-2-7 over his past eight outings… Crunch defenseman Brendan Bell enters with points in eight straight games (5-6-11)… Greg Moore shows three points (2-1-3) in seven games since moving from Bridgeport to Syracuse at the NHL trade deadline… The Crunch’s 14 shorthanded goals are fourth-most in the AHL, while Bridgeport has surrendered a league-low one.

Having collected a point in four straight games (2-0-1-1), Adirondack heads south this weekend for a critical two-game set at Norfolk… The Phantoms are just 1-7-0-1 in their last nine road games and 12-19-0-2 away from home for the season, but are 4-1-1-0 against the Admirals and 2-0-0-0 at Scope this season… Mika Pyorala has notched a goal in three straight games (3-2-5) for the Phantoms, and Stefan Legein is on a four-game scoring streak (2-3-5)… Adirondack leading scorer Jon Matsumoto (24-29-53) shows 3-2-5 in his last four outings… Norfolk is winless in its last four (0-2-0-2) and is just one point ahead of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Bridgeport for a playoff spot… Defenseman Ty Wishart, who has three assists in his last two outings, has recorded a team-high four points (2-2-4) in six clashes with Adirondack this season… Admirals rookie Dana Tyrell has a point in six of his last seven contests (2-6-8).

San Antonio, 8-4-1-0 in its last 13 games, continues its playoff push with a two-game set at first-place Chicago on Saturday and Sunday… The Rampage are three points back of Milwaukee for the West Division’s final postseason berth but are 0-5-0-0 against the Wolves this season… Alexandre Picard is on a six-game scoring streak (7-3-10) for the Rampage – with at least one goal in five of the six contests – and Brett MacLean has points in five of his last six (2-7-9)… Peter Mannino (23-3-0, 2.12, .926) has won his last 15 decisions for Chicago, which is 16-1-0-1 in its last 18 home games and 24-5-1-1-0 (W-L-T-OTL-SOL) all-time at Allstate Arena against the Rampage… Brett Sterling ranks second in the AHL with 34 goals (34-22-56), and former AHL MVP Jason Krog places fifth with 68 points, including a league-leading 55 assists.

ALUMNI REPORT:
On Thursday, 2010 AHL All-Star Justin Peters made 25 saves as Carolina defeated NHL-leading Washington in overtime, 4-3… In Wednesday’s action, 2008 AHL All-Rookie forward Bobby Ryan scored twice as Anaheim doubled up Chicago, 4-2; Corey Crawford made 32 saves in his NHL season debut for the Blackhawks.

The American Hockey League makes its first appearance ever on CBC this Sunday when the Toronto Marlies host the Abbotsford Heat at Ricoh Coliseum. The game will also be seen in the United States on NHL Network.
