The 22-year-old Pominville, a second-round draft pick by Buffalo in 2001, has 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points through 34 games with the Amerks this season. In 2003-04, he scored 34 goals — including a league-high 22 on the power play — and helped Rochester reach the Western Conference Finals.
This year, the Amerks find themselves locked in a tight battle atop the North Division. Rochester is currently in first place, but Manitoba is only one point back and Edmonton and St. John’s each sits three points back.
