Ryan also recorded two assists for the Amerks, while teammates Greg Jacina had a goal and an assist and Clarke MacArthur also had two helpers as Rochester came from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the Stars.
Craig Anderson made 33 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped 4 of 7 skaters in the shootout to give Rochester, who kicked off their five-game road trip with its second win, its fourth straight victory.
Defenseman Marty Wilford registered a goal and two assists for the Stars, who participated in its first shootout of the year.
OMAHA 3, HAMILTON 1
After falling behind 1-0, Omaha rallied to score three-unanswered goals to earn its fourth-straight victory by defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 at the Omaha Civic Center.
Defenseman Adam Pardy recorded a pair of assists and teammate Justin Taylor tallied a goal and an assist for the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, who have scored an average of 4.25 goals per game on their current win streak.
Curtis McElhinney stopped 19 of 20 shots on the night to improve his record to 16-8-0.
Defenseman Andre Benoit scored the lone goal for Hamilton in the loss.
