One of the most decorated players ever to skate in the American Hockey League, Keith Aucoin has announced his retirement.
Aucoin, 39, is the seventh-leading scorer in AHL history, having recorded 857 points in 769 games over 13 seasons with the Lowell Lock Monsters (2001-02, 05-06), Providence Bruins (2002-03, 04-05), Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (2003-04), Albany River Rats (2006-08), Hershey Bears (2008-12), Toronto Marlies (2012-13) and Chicago Wolves (2013-14).
He also ranks fifth all-time with 613 assists, and is tied for 11th with 88 points in 92 career postseason contests.
A native of Waltham, Mass., Aucoin won two Calder Cups with Hershey in 2009 and 2010 and was the AHL’s MVP and scoring champion for the 2009-10 season after tallying 106 points in 70 games. Aucoin played in a record-tying six AHL All-Star Classics, and was voted a First Team AHL All-Star three times (2009, 2010, 2012) and a Second Team All-Star three times (2006, 2007, 2011).
Aucoin finished his playing career with four seasons in Europe, helping Red Bull Muenchen to three consecutive German league championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Undrafted out of Norwich University, Aucoin played 145 games in the National Hockey League with Carolina, Washington, the New York Islanders and St. Louis, totaling 17 goals and 32 assists.
