Baines earns Milestone of the Month

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League has named Norfolk Admirals forward Ajay Baines the recipient of the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month award for January.

On Jan. 13 at Norfolk Scope, Baines skated in his 400th career American Hockey League game, all in an Admirals uniform. He made the evening even more memorable when he assisted on Martin St. Pierre’s first-period goal, becoming Norfolk’s all-time leading scorer with 174 career points. Baines later added a goal of his own, snapping a 3-3 tie and sending the Admirals to a 5-3 victory over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Baines, 27, is in his sixth season with Norfolk, and now has 68 goals and 107 assists for 175 points in 408 career AHL games for the Admirals. A native of Kamloops, B.C., the Norfolk captain originally signed as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks on Aug. 1, 2001.

In recognition of earning the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month, Baines will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Admirals home game.
