The Calgary Flames announced Tuesday that defenseman Matt Bartkowski has joined the club on a professional tryout contract.

Bartkowski, 28, has played 34 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins in 2016-17, collecting two goals and eight assists.

The Pittsburgh, Pa., native has skated in 211 career games in the National Hockey League with Boston and Vancouver, totaling six goals and 36 assists for 42 points.

Bartkowski was originally a seventh-round draft choice by Florida in 2008. He played for Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan when Gulutzan was an assistant with the Canucks in 2015-16.
