Ryan Bayda scored his second goal of the game 1:10 into overtime to lead the Manitoba Moose over the recently surging Toronto Marlies on Thursday night at the MTS Centre.
The Moose went down 2-0 in the second period when Kris Newbury netted a shorthanded goal for the Marlies. Bayda, who figured into all of the scoring for the Moose, started the comeback with 3:18 remaining in the second period when he put a power-play goal past Toronto goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin.
Alexandre Burrows tied the game late in the third period to pick up his 12th goal of the season and his team leading 30th point.
Maxime Ouellet stopped 29 of 31 shots to pick up his third win of the season.
The win pulls the Moose (21-11-1-2, 45 pts.) to within 3 points of the North Division leading Grand Rapids Griffins.
These two teams will finsh out 2005 against each other on Saturday afternoon as the Moose will once again play host to the Marlies at the MTS Centre.
CHICAGO 5, MILWAUKEE 4 (OT)
The Chicago Wolves upset the Milwaukee Admirals on right wing Billy Tibbets‘ (2g, 1a) second goal of the game just 18 seconds into overtime. The Admirals’ Chris Durno scored his first goal of the season with 1:12 remaining in the third period to force the overtime period.
Milwaukee goaltender Pekka Rinne make 41 saves in the losing effort.
CLEVELAND 2, SAN ANTONIO 0
Cleveland goaltender Nolan Schaefer stopped all 35 shots he faced to record his second consecutive shutout and lead the Barons over the Rampage 2-0 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Garrett Stafford and Mike Iggulden scored the goals for the Barons.
HAMILTON 4, ROCHESTER 1
Yann Danis stopped 19 of 20 shots to record his seventh win of the season and lead the Bulldogs over the Americans by a score of 4-1.
The Bulldogs received goals from Mathieu Roy, Michael Lambert, James Sanford and Raitis Ivanans in the win. Stefan Meyer had the lone goal for Rochester.
