Blues acquire forward Filewich from Penguins

The St. Louis Blues, parent club of the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen, announced today the club has acquired forward Jonathan Filewich from the Pittsburgh Penguins, parent club of the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in exchange for a conditional 6th round draft choice in 2010.

Filewich, 24, has played in 19 games this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording four points (two goals, two assists) and six penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-2, 208-pound right winger made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh, skating in five games.

In addition last season, he also appeared in 71 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, registering 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) and 44 penalty minutes.

The Kelowna, British Columbia native was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the 3rd round, 70th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Filewich will report to the Peoria Rivermen.
