The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, announced that they have signed forwards Guillaume Desbiens and Tanner Glass, and defenseman Michael Funk.
Desbiens, 24, appeared in 78 games last season with the Manitoba Moose where he scored 47 points (21-26-47) and collected 158 minutes for his best AHL season so far. Over the span of his career, the Alma, Quebec native has played in 158 AHL games between Manitoba and Chicago were he has amassed 59 points (26-33-59) and 313 penalty minutes.
For the past two seasons, Desbiens battled in the Calder Cup Finals and won the title in 2008 with the Chicago Wolves. In his playoff run with the Moose last season he appeared in all 22 games and racked up 12 points (4-8-12) along with 18 penalty minutes.
Desbiens was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round, 116th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Glass, 26, appeared in 44 games in 2008-09 with the Rochester Americans where he scored 13 points (4-9-13) and 100 penalty minutes. He also played in three games last season with the NHL’s Florida Panthers where he collected seven penalty minutes.
Over the past two seasons, the Regina, SK native has played in 91 career games in the AHL with the Americans where he has 25 points (10-15-25) and 189 penalty minutes. In 44 career NHL games with Panthers, Glass has two points (1-1-2) and 46 penalty minutes.
Glass was originally drafted by Florida in 2003.
Funk, 22, appeared in 13 games last season with the Portland Pirates where he scored three points (1-2-3) and collected eight penalty minutes. Over the span of his career, the Abbotsford, BC native has played in 132 AHL games between Portland and Rochester were he has amassed 20 points (3-17-20) and 169 penalty minutes.
Funk has also played in nine NHL games with Buffalo where he earned two assists.
He was originally drafted by Buffalo in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
