The Vancouver Canucks, parent club of the AHL’s Utica Comets, have signed center Mike Santorelli and defenseman Alex Biega.
Santorelli, 27, had two goals and two assists in 34 NHL games between Florida and Winnipeg in 2012-13, and also recorded two goals and three assists in seven AHL games with San Antonio.
A three-time 20-goal scorer in the AHL and an AHL All-Star in 2009, Santorelli has totaled 76 goals and 100 assists in 214 career AHL games with San Antonio and Milwaukee, as well as nine goals and nine assists in 24 playoff games over three postseasons with Milwaukee.
In 208 career NHL games with Nashville, Florida and Winnipeg, the Vancouver, B.C., native has collected 59 points (33g, 26a). Santorelli was originally drafted by Nashville in 2004.
Biega, 25, spent the 2012-13 season with the AHL’s Rochester Americans, collecting five goals and 20 assists for 25 points in 72 regular-season games and two assists in three playoff games.
The Montreal native played his first three pro seasons (2010-13) in the Buffalo organization, notching 13 goals, 53 assists and a plus-24 rating over 198 games with Rochester and Portland.
Biega was drafted by the Sabres in the fifth round in 2006.
