Devils re-sign five to two-way contracts

The New Jersey Devils today signed forwards Blake Coleman, Stefan Noesen, Blake Pietila, Kevin Rooney and Ben Thomson to two-way contracts.

Coleman, 25, signed for one year after appearing in 52 AHL games with Albany last season. He tied for the team lead with 19 goals, ranked second with 39 points and led the club with a plus-21 rating during the regular season.

Coleman also made his NHL debut last season, playing 23 games with New Jersey and tallying one goal and one assist.

Noesen, 24, signed for one year after joining the Devils organization on Jan. 25, 2017, off waivers from Anaheim. In 44 NHL games between New Jersey and Anaheim last year, Noesen recorded eight goals and two assists for 10 points.

Noesen also played 22 AHL games with San Diego last season, registering six goals and nine assists for 15 points. In 116 career AHL matches with San Diego and Norfolk, Noesen has tallied 23 goals and 40 assists for 63 points.

Pietila, 24, inked a two-year deal after completing his second season with the Devils organization in 2016-17. He skated in 49 AHL games with Albany last season, notching 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points. He also appeared in 10 games with New Jersey, picking up an assist.

In his two pro campaigns, Pietila has totaled 27 goals and 23 assists for 50 points in 107 AHL games with Albany.

Rooney, 24, signed for one year after completing his first full professional season in 2016-17. Rooney skated in 71 AHL games with Albany, compiling 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points. He also made his NHL debut with New Jersey and appeared in four games.

Thomson, 24, signed for one year after completing his third professional season. He made his NHL debut on April 4, 2017, and played in three games with New Jersey. Thomson tied for the Albany team lead in games played (72) last season and recorded six goals and four assists for 10 points.

In 212 career AHL regular-season games, Thomson has 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points.
